Also a temp. ref of sorts for my new species that I call Icacorns ;v;
pronounced (I- kah- corn)
. .. ...Physical Appearance... .. .
•They have large, pointed White Wood sprouts as horns, and small wings at the base of their ears
•They have split body colors, as shown on Obilisk
•Hair color can range from very dark to light, if it contains color, it's dark/dull; extremely long in length.
Tails can be as long as the manes, and the color of their tailbone is the color of the tail when short.
As the tail grows out though, the tailbone color fades into it's regular mane colors
•Males commonly have a beard tuft
•Their hair (and tails, if long enough) must be cut short whenever they leave the forest, reason being that their long hair is for distributing and spreading seeds and saplings along the forest floor. If they left with their hair intact it'd be a waste of those precious seeds, for they can't stay alive without White Wood magic
. .. ...Habitat+Animal Life... .. . •They're guardians of the White Wood Forest, where magical snow-white trees grow and create vital flowers and herbs that are used to cure fatal disease and plague
•The forest consists of the giant white trees, groves of herbs and flowers, a tunnel system, an open field where the Icacorn build their homes, and a creek.
•They spend their days spreading seeds, gathering flowers and herbs, and living their everyday lives
•If animals from outside the White-Wood stay in the forest for too long, the tree magic takes effect on them, and in turn has resulted in multiple species mutations that are now indigenous to the White-Wood
. .. ...Wings+Horns... .. .
•Wings can be of any kind- hawk, sparrow, fairy, ect. and are used by males for display during mating
•Wings stay a relatively small size on females, while on male they can grow much larger
•Female's wings usually stay greyscale with subtle color, while male's reach over the color spectrum. It's not uncommon for there to be multiple colors on male wings, they can even rainbow, although that's very rare
•Horns are on both male and females
•Very old Icacorns can have fully grown White Wood trees growing from their heads; they're much bigger than other Icacorn because they have to support the weight
•In mating, males use them to fend off other males from the female they're courting
•Females use their sprouts for defense against other creatures when transporting flowers and herbs to villages, towns and cities
. .. ...Breeding... .. .
•Their cutiemarks/talents, if they have them, are always nature-oriented. They only have a cutiemark if they're heavily mix-bred between Icacorn and pony
•Icacorns genes are dominant, so the offspring if mix-bred would be Icacorn
•Icacorns mate for life, and do so within their own species
•If they mate outside of their species, they do so with Unicorns, and very rarely pegasi
The reason for unicorns being the most common is that:
#1. Icacorn don't think the offspring would have a good enough chance of inheriting their magical blood and traits if they breed with a non-magical creature
for example, their sprout may not grow correctly as they age if they had non-magical genes interfering with the dominant Icacorn genes
#2. The tree magic mutates anything in the forest that's non-magical. This magical mutation goes for ponies as well, which is why it's very complicated and uncommon for an Icacorn to mate with anything outside their species but a unicorn, for unicorns would be able to live in the forest free of harm
This is a currently a semi-closed species.
Normally I'd let this be a fully open species, but I really love these guys and I see people break species rules all the time and it'd break my heart if that happened to my bby's vnv
So if you'd like to make one yourself, you have to A.- be someone I and/or =Ebony-Inke know reasonably well, meaning we've chatted before and B.- you have to NOTE me a link to your Icacorn in your sta.sh for approval before uploading it.
Otherwise, you can get them through customs and adoptables from both me and =Ebony-Inke~
Aw it breaks my heart that these bbs are closed ;D; it makes me really sad when people don't use the rule given if you were to Crete your wont ;3; i really looked forward to making one until I saw that it was a closed species QAQ
You have no idea how much I adore this species! They look so gentle and beautiful, and I love how they function! I'd die to have one as a character, but I doubt I could. I would ask to make my own, but then you'd have to do the same for others. But you definitely put a lot of thought into them, and I applaud you~ uwu
I'd really love to enter the DTA for one of these guys, but there's one part of this that gives me pause: Icacorns are only able to breed with unicorns and rarely pegsi. Icacorns are proud creatures and since they're magic users, think unicorns are most worthy of passing down their genes.
Is this meant to imply they look down on Earth ponies/pegasi? Just made me a bit uncomfortable, so I thought I should ask for clarification on if it's more they're just more likely to breed with unicorns, or if they legitimately see non-magic users as lesser.
It's that they look down on non-magical ponies at all! In fact they see earth ponies as equals
With breeding/mating though, it's their legacy and continuation of their species, so they're much pickier
It's more like they don't think the offspring would have a good enough chance of inheriting their magical blood and traits if they bred with a non-magical creature c: for example, their sprout may not grow correctly as they age if they had non-magical genes mixed in with the dominant Icacorn genes~
I should probably re-word that bit of their info |D
Quick question... this is really random, if they left the forest could they also, instead of cutting their manes, put it up in some kind of like hair tie or bow or whatever ti keep it from touching the ground, if they used like things from the forest, like twigs and such to hold it up? Idk why I thought about this, but it seems like a cute idea with their long manes and such!.
It's a ritual sort of thing for them to cut their manes c:
although, they can still put their hair up like you described around their homes and when they're just exploring/roaming around the forest! vuv that would be a more common hairstyle for children-young adults though, as the adults have to keep spreading seeds~
I think it would need to be cut still, while reading the description, she noted that they cut their hair because their hair collects the precious white woodseeds and cutting the hair is just a simple way of keeping the seeds in the forest where they wont die and go to waste : (reason being that their long hair is for distributing and spreading seeds and saplings along the forest floor. If they left with their hair intact it'd be a waste of those precious seeds, for they can't stay alive without White Wood magic) -taken from description
If that helps to answer ^,^
but you can still wait for creators opinion other then mine c:
ooooh nice concept. you gave it a lot of thought :> I'd like to spread the idea with fanart and a credit to you of course. only if a.) you allowe it and sadly b.) I have time ;n; (I'm so packed with stuff and my jobs *sobs*)
